If you work in Bromley, you are never far from somewhere good to eat. The town centre has independent cafés, Mediterranean restaurants and quick lunchtime bites, all within a short walk.
Whether you have half an hour, are meeting a colleague, or want to catch up with friends over a longer meal, there is plenty to choose from. As a business centre close to Bromley South, we are lucky to have so much on the doorstep. Here are five of our favourites.
1. Cafe Giardino, in The Glades
Cafe Giardino sits on the Upper Mall of The Glades shopping centre, a short walk from Bromley South.
The menu covers pasta, salads, sandwiches, paninis and pizza breads, alongside coffee, pastries and sweet treats. It suits a quick lunch between meetings as easily as a longer sit-down with a colleague, and the atmosphere is relaxed enough that you feel properly away from your desk.
Our recommendation: a fresh salad or a classic Italian-style panini, followed by a coffee.
2. Filoxenia, for Greek and Mediterranean
For something different, Filoxenia on Bromley High Street serves Greek and Mediterranean food in a relaxed setting.
It works best when you have a little more time, so it is a good choice for meeting a colleague or catching up with a friend. The central location makes it easy to reach from offices around the town centre and Bromley South.
3. Da Raffaele, for Italian
If pasta or pizza is more your thing, Da Raffaele on Bromley High Street is an Italian restaurant and deli with a menu that runs from pasta and pizza through to meat and seafood.
The space works well for a team lunch or a longer lunch meeting.
4. Aqua Bar & Grill, for a proper sit-down
On East Street, Aqua Bar & Grill is the one for when lunch is more than grabbing something quickly.
The focus is Mediterranean food, including grilled dishes and seafood, in a relaxed setting. A good option for a business lunch or for treating yourself to a longer break.
5. The Olive Branch, for something casual
Also on East Street, The Olive Branch is a more casual café, with Mediterranean and Turkish influences alongside the usual café favourites.
It is handy for lunch, coffee or a quick catch-up, and close enough that you are not spending half your break walking there.
Why Bromley is a good place to work at lunchtime
One advantage of working in BR1 is how much food there is in a small area. Between The Glades, Bromley High Street, Widmore Road and East Street, almost everything is within walking distance.
For businesses based around Bromley South, that means getting out of the office without losing your whole lunch break.
And the food is only part of it. Leaving your desk, getting a change of scenery and catching up with someone can change the shape of your afternoon. When the weather is against you, our Business Lounge does much the same job without leaving the building.
Take a break from the desk
At Kingfisher House we are surrounded by cafés, restaurants and shops. Whether it is a quick panini at Cafe Giardino, a sit-down lunch with a colleague or somewhere new entirely, there is always another spot to try.
So next time lunchtime comes round, why not leave the desk behind?
